Film art in Hanover

Since its opening in 1977, the cinema at Raschplatz in Hanover has been one of the city's established film venues. With its central location on Raschplatz, directly opposite the main railway station, it is easily accessible for both locals and visitors.

History and structure

Since its foundation, the cinema at Raschplatz has been dedicated to a sophisticated film programme. Following a comprehensive renovation in 2010, the cinema now has four auditoriums with a total of 440 seats. The cinemas are named Graffiti (160 seats), Hollywood (130 seats), Fairbanks (96 seats) and Colosseum (54 seats). This structure allows for a varied programme and creates an intimate atmosphere for the audience.

Programme diversity

The cinema at Raschplatz offers a carefully curated programme that focuses on arthouse films, international productions and award-winning independent films. Recent films such as "The Phoenician Masterstroke" by Wes Anderson, "On Swift Horses" and "Monsieur Aznavour" are examples of the wide range of films on offer. Special attention is paid to original versions with subtitles in order to preserve the authenticity of the films.

Events and specials

In addition to the regular cinema programme, the Kino am Raschplatz regularly organises special screenings, retrospectives and film series. For example, works by directors such as Wes Anderson and David Lynch are presented in special series. Matinees, documentary film series and children's cinema screenings are also held to expand the cultural offering.

Awards and recognition

Its commitment to the art of film has been recognised several times. Among others, the cinema has received the State Minister of Culture's Cinema Programme Award and the Lower Saxony Annual Film Programme Award. These honours underline the importance of the cinema for Hanover's cultural landscape.

The cinema at Raschplatz stands for the continuous promotion of film culture in Hanover. With its diverse programme, regular special events and central location, it offers a comprehensive range of films for film enthusiasts.
