Special Olympics National Games 2025!

From 4 to 6 June 2025, the Hanover to become the centre of inclusive sport in Lower Saxony. During these three days, committed athletes will be demonstrating their skills in the Special Olympics Lower Saxony 2025what is possible with passion, discipline and a sense of community - regardless of individual limitations.

A sports festival for everyone - in the centre of Hanover

The city not only opens its Sports facilities and pitchesbut above all their hearts. At this unique event, participants step into eight different disciplines on. The sports programme is complemented by Taster offers and the Non-competitive offerwhere the inclusive idea is particularly in focus.

This year, the competitions are considered official Recognition competitions for the 2026 National Games - a real highlight for all athletes. Most of the events take place in the Hanover Sports Park which thus presents itself as a high-performance and integrative venue.

Big kick-off at Platz der Menschenrechte

The national games start on 04 June with a emotional opening ceremony on the Platz der Menschenrechte, directly in front of the New Town Hall. Here, all participants, helpers and visitors are welcome to celebrate the start of the games together. This celebration emphasises the community spirit of the event and sends out a strong signal for inclusion in practice.

Action mile: Meeting place for sport, exchange and participation

On 05 June the Erika Fisch Stadium becomes a lively action area. The so-called Action Mile offers visitors, associations and partners a varied programme for the day - from hands-on activities and information stands to cultural contributions. This creates space for encounters, inspiration and commitment.

Final with Olympic spirit

The event will conclude on 06 June with a solemn ceremonyalso in the Erika Fisch Stadium. Within an hour, the flame is symbolically extinguished and the flag is handed over to the next host city for 2027. An emotional moment that carries the idea of the Special Olympics into the future with dignity.

Special Olympics action mile on 05.06.

In the centre of the sports park, on the grounds of the Erika Fisch Stadium, an action mile/action area will be set up as part of the national games. Here, participants, visitors and interested parties can enjoy a colourful, daily changing programme. Our partners and local clubs will have the opportunity to present themselves here.

On Friday, the 06.06. the State Games will end with an entertaining and varied closing ceremony on the Action Mile (Erika Fisch Stadium). The focus of the 60-minute event will be on extinguishing the Olympic flame and handing over the flag to representatives of the host city of the next Special Olympics State Games in Lower Saxony in 2027.
