An event with an international reputation

For over three decades, the International Fireworks Competition has been attracting teams from all over the world to the Great Garden. The best pyrotechnicians compete against each other and present a 25-minute choreography of light, music and colour - set against an impressive baroque garden backdrop. The event is one of the most traditional fireworks festivals in Europe and is part of Hanover's cultural identity.

Venue: Herrenhausen Gardens

The Great Garden in Herrenhausen is one of the most important Baroque gardens in Europe. Its symmetrical shapes, water features and avenues provide an ideal stage for the subtle interplay of sound and light. The show itself is accompanied by classical pieces of music to which the pyrotechnics are precisely timed. A visual dialogue is created that unfolds fully both in daylight and in the evening darkness.

Supporting programme before the spectacle

In the afternoon, a varied programme invites visitors to the site. Live music, walk acts and cabaret create a relaxed atmosphere before the start of the competition. Catering stands offer food and drink from a variety of genres. This results in a smooth transition from daylight to night - until the first fireworks finally light up the sky over Hanover.
