On Sunday, 8 September 2024, it's that time again: the Region discovery day celebrates its 37th edition! Every year, this popular event attracts more than 100,000 explorers from Hanover and the surrounding area to experience the diversity of the region.
A colourful programme of activities, experiences and experiments awaits you on this special day. From early in the morning until late at night, you can use public transport free of charge and discover the most beautiful and interesting places in and around Hanover on over 40 exciting tours. Whether cultural and historical sites, picturesque nature parks or mysterious corners - there is something for every taste.
You can look forward to a varied music and sports programme with four stages full of live performances and entertainment, stretching from the Banhof to the Aegi. Numerous hands-on activities, games and information stands invite visitors of all ages to try things out and join in. From exciting experiments and sporting challenges to creative workshops - boredom is guaranteed not to be an issue here!
The region discovery day is also a Sunday shopping. Many shops in the city centre are open and invite you to take a leisurely stroll and shop. So you can combine the festivities with a little shopping trip and enjoy the day to the full.
A highlight this year is the summit meeting of the region's three most famous elevations: the Kaliberg in Sehnde, the Waldberg in Empelde and Monte Müllo on the grounds of the AHA in Lahe open their doors and offer unique views and experiences. These special destinations are only open to the public on Region Discovery Day and promise unforgettable impressions.
