Immerse yourself in the splendid world of the Great Garden, one of the best-preserved baroque gardens in Europe, and experience the fascination of over 300 years of history. Stroll along carefully arranged boxwood figures, marble gravel paths and colourful flowerbeds that delight the eye. A highlight is the grotto, which was decorated with lively glass mosaics by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle - a real eye-catcher!
We owe this oasis of Baroque garden art to the visionary Electress Sophie of the Palatinate, who was inspired by the splendour of the French Sun King Louis XIV. At the end of the 17th century, she created this green masterpiece, which still delights visitors to Hanover today.
Let our guides show you the hidden treasures of the Great Garden. Discover the Great Fountain and learn interesting facts about Hanover's connection to the English royal family.
