The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and has a large sunbathing lawn where you can sunbathe and relax in comfort. The clear and clean lake is ideal for swimming and bathing. There is a separate non-swimmers' area for children where they can splash around safely.

In addition to swimming, there are many other activities to discover at Birkensee. Water sports enthusiasts can hire canoes or pedal boats and explore the waters. There is also a volleyball court and a large play area where children can let off steam.

The Birkensee also has changing rooms and sanitary facilities. Barbecue areas are available so that you can spend a nice barbecue day with friends and family. You can also reach the "Blockhaus am Birkensee" restaurant and beer garden directly from the car park. There is a children's playground right next to the log cabin.

There is an adjoining campsite with a hotel, annual pitches, caravan motel, caravan hire and caravan parking, which is open all year round.
