The architect, artist and furniture designer Andreas Brandolini is considered a "co-founder of the avant-garde "New German Design" of the 1980s. With his design of a chair with two straight and two bent legs, Brandolini set his trademark and also used this recognisable feature for the bench at the Leinaugarten bus stop.
But the actual name "the roof garden" comes from the green roof of the bus shelter, which is intended to be a pretty eye-catcher, especially for neighbours. With his art and the idea of a small front garden on the roof of the Leinaugarten bus stop, Brandolini wanted to solve the problem of otherwise littered and dirty bus shelter roofs and create an exclusive piece of greenery.
