Founded in 1966, the Gottfreid Wilhelm Leibniz Gesellschaft has its headquarters in the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library and connects different scientific disciplines to promote the ideas of Leibniz. So far, nine international Leibniz Congresses have been held in different cities.
The journal Studia Leibnitiana, which appears twice a year, deals with topics from the history of philosophy and science. A memorial service is held annually on 14 November in the Neustadt Court and City Church of St. Johannis.
