The neighbourhood around Gerberstraße in Calenberger Neustadt has been gathering at Cengiz Ayyildiz's kiosk for 14 years. The kiosk, which has its own Instagram channel, fosters lively interaction with various events such as summer cinema and DJ evenings. Owner Ayyildiz knows almost all of his customers by name. Pictures that little customers have drawn for him dangle above the sales counter. He has everything on the shelves to cover any miscalculations on the shopping list: from sausage and red cabbage to organic honey and baked beans. His fresh eggs and everything to do with breakfast are the best sellers.
