Founded in 1832, the Kunstverein Hannover is one of the oldest and largest art associations in Germany. Every year, current international developments are presented in four to five solo and group exhibitions in monographic shows or thematic contexts.

Since the 19th century, the Kunstverein has resided in the Künstlerhaus of the city of Hanover in the heart of the city. It is characterised by its spacious and architecturally unique rooms, in which renowned artists such as Marina Abramovic, Daniel Buren, Miriam Cahn, Gregory Crewdson, Helen Frankenthaler, Piero Manzoni, Gerhard Merz, David Reed, Bridget Riley, Niki de Saint PhalleLuc Tuymans, Kara Walker and Franz Erhard Walther presented their first major comprehensive exhibitions.
