The Leibniz Archive, part of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library (GWLB), is dedicated to the historical-critical complete edition of Leibniz's writings and letters.
The Leibniz Archive holds around 50,000 of Leibniz's documents, including around 200,000 pages. These include an extensive collection of letters that Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz exchanged with scholars from all over the world, as well as the books from his personal library.
The 15,000 letters from this pool are currently still being analysed. Senders from 16 different countries have been identified. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz's papers have been recognised as part of UNESCO's World Documentary Heritage since 2007. It is the most extensive written legacy of a scholar ever.
It is planned to publish a complete edition of all documents by 2048. A 15-volume edition in Chinese and an edition in Spanish are also planned.
