Leibniz Edition Research Centre
The Leibniz Archives, part of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library (GWLB), is dedicated to the historical-critical complete edition of Leibniz's writings and letters.
For example, the Leibniz Archives hold around 50,000 documents by Leibniz, including some 200,000 pages. These include an extensive collection of letters that Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz exchanged with scholars from all over the world, as well as the books in his personal library.
At present, the 15,000 letters from this collection are still being analysed. Senders from 16 different countries have been identified. Since 2007, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz's written material has been recognised as part of UNESCO's World Documentary Heritage. It is the most extensive written legacy of any scholar.
It is planned to publish a complete edition of all documents by 2048. In addition, a 15-volume edition in Chinese and an edition in Spanish are planned.
