Surfing in the centre of the city

The enercity Leinewelle in Hanover is one of the first semi-natural river waves in Germany. By installing a hydraulically controllable system, the Leine creates a surfable wave at this location. Developed on a voluntary basis by Leinewelle e. V. and financed by Hanoverian companies, it enables people beyond Hanover's borders to go rapidsurfing.

Technical features of the line shaft

The leash wave has a hydraulically controllable system that enables a standing wave to be generated in the leash. The wave height and width can be customised, offering both beginners and experienced surfers optimal conditions. The system is controlled via an app that allows the so-called wavemasters to regulate the wave in real time. A fish pass has also been integrated to ensure fish can pass through.

Utilisation options and membership

Leinewelle can be used by both club members and guests. Members of Leinewelle e. V. benefit from discounted conditions and have access to exclusive surfing slots. Interested parties without membership can purchase individual tickets. Bookings can be made via the association's official website.

Events and functions

The Leinewelle is not only used for individual surfing, but is also the venue for various events. For example, the German Rapid Surfing Championships took place on the Leinewelle. Further events and surf camps are planned for the future, which will attract both local and national visitors.
