All of Europe as a guest
The world's oldest and first Heckentheater shines in new splendour in the Great Garden of Herrenhausen. And the most beautiful thing is that there is a lot of programme going on over the open-air stage with the conical lime trees. 30 gilded baroque figures frame the pretty garden theatre where courtly society from all over Europe once met in high spirits. Electress Sophie laid out the Great Garden with its unique fountain, the labyrinth and the corner pavilions, freshly restored in 2021 (attention: grandiose ceiling painting!) on the Graft as early as the end of the 17th century. With the newly rebuilt castle and the museum inside, the colourful grotto designed by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle (honorary citizen of Hannover), as well as the gallery and the orangery, the ensemble is a charm.

The Berggarten opposite, with its diverse plant and tree population and the show houses, impressively reflects 300 years of garden culture. The Georgengarten, laid out in the style of an English landscape garden, with the "Wilhelm Busch - German Museum of Caricature and Drawing" museum, which is unique in Germany, is also part of the Herrenhäuser Gardens. Why not take a seat in the Leibniz Temple and listen to nature! And all this only about one kilometre as the crow flies from the main railway station - that's Hannover.
