The Theater am Küchengarten (TAK) in Hanover-Linden is a renowned venue for cabaret, satire and upscale comedy. With its intimate atmosphere and varied programme, it has established itself as a permanent fixture in Hanover's cultural scene.
The TAK is located in a listed building that originally served as a municipal bathhouse. It has been used as a theatre since 1987 and has been offering a varied programme of cabaret, satire and chansons ever since. With around 170 performances per season, the TAK is the only professionally run cabaret theatre in Lower Saxony.
The TAK presents both established artists and up-and-coming talent from the cabaret scene. In addition to guest performances, the theatre also stages its own productions. The theatre places particular emphasis on sophisticated political, literary and musical cabaret.
The TAK has been awarding the "Gaul von Niedersachsen" cabaret prize to outstanding artists since 1996. In addition, the "Foal of Lower Saxony" has been awarded to promising young talent since 2001.
