The circular trail is around 32 kilometres long and leads around the Steinhuder Meer - the heart of the nature park of the same name in the Hanover region. The varied landscape can be enjoyed actively and relaxed on well-maintained paths - whether on foot or by bike.
A special highlight is a visit to the island of Wilhelmstein. The impressive Baroque fortress was once planned by Wilhelm Graf zu Schaumburg-Lippe as an impregnable retreat. Situated on an artificial island, the fortress remains an impressive testimony to historical architecture to this day.
Even the crossing to the island with the traditional "emigrants" - flat-bottomed sailing boats - creates an extraordinary atmosphere with maritime flair.
The excursion is rounded off with dinner in a carefully selected restaurant - regional, seasonal and delicious.
