The Beach Volleyball Cup in Hanover has been one of the absolute crowd pullers in the city centre for decades. What began in 1995 with an idea in the sand has long since become an established fixture in the region's event calendar. In May 2025, Opernplatz will once again be the venue for thrilling top-class sport - with 400 tonnes of the finest sand right in the heart of the city.
From 16 to 18 May, the square in front of the State Opera will once again be transformed into a lively beach arena, where top-class matches and a summery atmosphere will come together. As usual, organiser X-Zone will be bringing professionals, newcomers and local talent onto the pitch - all free of charge.
The Beach Volleyball Cup offers not only sporting highlights, but also an extensive supporting programme: action areas, hands-on activities and food trucks ensure an all-round successful weekend. The atmosphere is also guaranteed - with music, entertainment and good humour right on the court.
The traditional celebrity match is also a must. In 2024, Steffen Krach, Axel von der Ohe and ex-96 player Christian Schulz were among those on the court. This year, Olympic champion Julius Brink will once again be a real crowd favourite. According to Brink, the event is one of his favourite tournaments - "because of the atmosphere and closeness to the audience".
