Since their formation in the mid-nineties, diorama have been continuously developing their darkwave sound and passionately pushing stylistic boundaries. With their 2020 album "tiny missing fragments", they delivered an innovative milestone. Live, diorama offer a combination of emotional depth and power play.
diorama have always been regarded as cerebral and unconventional. And never before has this label been as justified as on their tenth studio album. On "tiny missing fragments", diorama make a consistent break with classic electro arrangements. Instead, they wrap their emphatic messages in glitch beats, complex loops and atmospheric density. The choruses are epic and melodic, with the melancholic lightness of earlier releases such as "amaroid" and "her liquid arms" shining through.
The album was recorded and produced by Torben Wendt and Felix Marc themselves. In addition to the haunting vocals and the many sound details, the psychedelic guitar effects by Zura Nakamura also make a decisive contribution to the character of the album. Tracks such as "gasoline" or the remix of "horizons" produced by zoodrake ensure a presence in the clubs. However, the album's radiance comes from its disturbing, torn aesthetic, which unfolds particularly in ballads such as "irreversible" or "dark pitch".
