Hanover Classical Open Air

It now has cult status: every year, the Hannover Klassik Open Air attracts thousands to the Maschpark. The event's motto "Opera for everyone" lives up to its promise. Because with free admission, everyone really gets their money's worth here. From opera insiders to classical music novices, everyone can spread out a picnic blanket on the park meadows, enjoy listening to the music and follow the action on the stage in front of the New Town Hall on two large video screens.

The special highlight of Hannover Klassik Open Air 2025: this time, the chief conductor of the NDR Radiophilharmonie Stanislav Kochanovsky will be on the podium. At his first Hannover Klassik Open Air, he will combine a best-of of well-known operas by Borodin and Tchaikovsky with Massenet, Korngold and Italian works by Puccini & Co.

As in previous years, the solo roles will be performed by top-class international singers. Soprano Oksana Dyka, for example, gave a celebrated Tosca and Turandot under legendary director Franco Zeffirelli. The Ukrainian is a regular guest at the New York Met as well as at the most important opera houses in Europe. The Russian-Austrian baritone Boris Pinkhasovich is also in demand internationally. Performances have taken him to London's Covent Garden, the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas and La Scala in Milan, among others. The youngest of the soloist trio is the Armenian tenor Liparit Avetisyan. He already has an impressive singing portfolio - including appearances alongside Pretty Yende, our Open Air star from last year - and has been compared to the young Pavarotti on more than one occasion.

The concert ON AIR
NDR Kultur will broadcast the premiere evening live on the radio on 22 August from 8pm.
Arte Concert will be showing the Hannover Klassik Open Air on 23 August as a live video stream.
