On the Hanover city tour „Hanno(ver)nascht! Old Town“, you will immerse yourself in the historic Old Town and the lively city centre - accompanied by small, carefully selected samples. As you stroll through narrow alleyways, feel the proximity of the Leineschloss or pass the New Hanover Town Hall, a special interplay of flavour, atmosphere and city history is created. Tour of the old town and city centre

Your tour starts at the Tourist Information Hanover at Ernst-August-Platz 8, where you will meet your group and your tour guide at 1.30 pm. After a short introduction, the tour begins through the historic Old Town with its half-timbered façades and small courtyards. The tour then continues towards the city centre, past the Old Town Hall and along the Red Thread, which connects the most important sights.

On your way, you will discover five selected culinary stops, where you will receive a small sample at each. The mixture of sweet, savoury and sometimes liquid surprises makes the tour a varied experience. In between, your guide will share exciting stories about life in Hanover, historical specialities, local insider tips and anecdotes from centuries past. In total, you will be out and about for around three hours - enough time to explore the city with all your senses, but compact enough to discover other corners of Hanover afterwards.

Meeting point at the Tourist Information Hanover

The city tour starts directly at the Hanover Tourist Information Centre at Ernst-August-Platz 8, clearly visible opposite Hanover Central Station. The group gathers here a few minutes before the tour starts so that you can set off together. The central location makes it easy to plan your journey by train or public transport. From here, the city opens up almost by itself - an ideal starting point for a tour that combines culinary impressions with exciting city history.

Dates, booking and important information

The Hanno(ver)nascht! Altstadt takes place regularly on the second and third Saturday of the month between January and November. The price is €36 per person and includes all five tastings. As the group size is limited, it is worth booking early.

Please note that the tour is not suitable for vegans or people with food intolerances, as the samples vary and cannot be customised. It is advisable to bring your own drink, for example a small water bottle. Comfortable shoes and weatherproof clothing will make your tour easier, as parts of the route take you through open streets and squares.
