Some voices are instantly recognisable. Isabelle Geffroy, better known as Zaz, has one such voice. Sometimes rough, sometimes gentle, with an energy that moves effortlessly between chanson, pop and jazz. An artist who has travelled from the streets of Montmartre to the world's great stages - and has always remained herself.

Born on 1 May 1980 in Tours, her musical talent became apparent early on: at the age of seven, she came second in a radio competition. She later studied music in Bordeaux and performed with the Latin rock band Don Diego, which took her all the way to a festival appearance in Angoulême. The stage became her home. After an intense period in the Parisian cabaret Les trois maillets, where she performed for up to five hours a day, her career took off. She met producer Kerredine Soltani on the street in the artistic neighbourhood of Montmartre - the beginning of a success story. Together they wrote "Je veux", a song that was to characterise her debut album "Zaz". Released in 2010, it reached number one in the charts in France and also became a hit in Germany.

Their musical success did not let up. Two Echo nominations, the European Border Breakers Award and live albums followed. She literally scaled new heights when she climbed Mont Blanc with two musicians in 2012 to play "Je veux" unplugged - a highly symbolic moment that was captured in a film co-produced by ZDF and Arte. Social commitment is also part of Zaz's life: she supports the Colibri movement founded by Pierre Rabhi, which advocates a more sustainable model of society. With albums such as "Recto verso" (2013), "Paris" (2014) - a tribute to the city of love - and "Effet miroir" (2018), she has proven her versatility time and again. After a three-year break, her album "Isa" was released in 2021. Now a new chapter is about to begin: Zaz returns to the stage in 2025. She is celebrating her big comeback in France and presenting her new album. The first sounds are to be unveiled in the coming weeks - a foretaste of the soul of her next tour. Zaz herself says of her music: "People abroad often tell me that although they don't understand me, they still receive my message." It is this mixture of voice, energy and emotion that touches her audience worldwide. And German fans can rejoice: As part of her new tour, Zaz will also be performing here in December - with all the passion that has made her an unmistakable artist.
