This show brings together the iconic works of Niki de Saint Phalle, Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami in a joint exhibition for the first time.<\/p>

Topics & Intention<\/strong><\/p>

The exhibition explores the interfaces between art and pop culture, tracing themes such as joie de vivre, love, transience, consumer criticism, feminism, sexuality, trauma and utopias, and illustrates how the three artists convey universal messages through colourful imagery and characteristic forms<\/p>

There are 12 themed rooms spread over 2,000 square metres of exhibition space, including areas such as Introduction, Love, Niki's Early Work, Monsters, Sexualities, Consumption, Utopias<\/p>

Around 110 exhibits from 18 international lenders represent the diversity of the presentation<\/p>

Background: 25 years of donations<\/strong><\/p>

The exhibition follows on from the donation of over 400 works by Niki de Saint Phalle in 2000 - a significant gift that has characterised the cultural profile of the museum and the city of Hanover to this day<\/p>

To mark the anniversary of this donation, the exhibition offers a new perspective on the international significance of Niki de Saint Phalle's oeuvre

Artists in focus<\/strong><\/p>

Niki de Saint Phalle: Famous for her lively \"Nanas\", whose colourful sculptures have been a feature of Hanover's cityscape since the 1970s.<\/p>

Yayoi Kusama: Known for her immersive Infinity Room installations that allow universal experience through repetition and reflection.
Takashi Murakami: inventor of the Superflat concept with iconic flower motifs that question the boundaries of art, commerce and consumption.<\/p>

Curation & accompanying programme<\/strong><\/p>

The exhibition was curated by Reinhard Spieler, Stefan Gronert, Nora Niefanger, Paula Schwerdtfeger and Talia Walther.<\/p>
