Hanover Region

Unique collection

The Hanover Tram Museum (HSM) in Sehnde-Wehmingen near Hanover offers a comprehensive collection of historic trams and related vehicles. Since its foundation in 1987, the museum has been run by the Hannoversches Straßenbahn-Museum e.V. association and is located on the site of a former potash mine.

Collection and exhibitions

The HSM collection comprises over 100 vehicles, including trams, trolleybuses and service vehicles from various eras. Many of these vehicles have been restored and some are once again roadworthy. Visitors have the opportunity to ride a historic tram on a circuit or on the outdoor track.

Worlds of technology at HSM

In addition to the main exhibition, the museum also houses the "Technology Worlds", which present other technical exhibits. These include the Telecommunications Museum, the North German Museum for HiFi and Studio Technology and a Bus Museum. These areas offer insights into various aspects of the history of technology.
