© Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V.Hanover is, in fact, a city built on water. The city was founded on a safe bank of the River Leine; Lake Masch was created to control flooding and provide people with work; and our drinking water comes from large groundwater reservoirs beneath the region. Water has therefore shaped Hanover for centuries.
Whilst we can, of course, simply turn on the tap here, billions of people worldwide do not have reliable access to clean drinking water. That is precisely why Viva con Agua is committed to this cause. The WATER WALK, taking place from 13 to 27 September, is a multi-day walk from Kassel to Hamburg (approx. 350 km) as a return to the roots of Viva con Agua. The WATER WALK is more than just a walk. It is a visible movement for solidarity and collective responsibility – and a powerful symbol of 20 years of commitment to clean drinking water.
Through a series of stages, Viva con Agua brings people together who set out on a shared journey: running, creating, inspiring.
The WATER WALK is accompanied by artists, musicians and other talented individuals who contribute their influence and creativity. This gives rise to a wide variety of activities along the way – from charity runs and school initiatives to small concerts and creative events. Much of this develops spontaneously along the route, bringing each stage to life and making it unique. On 19 September, the Water Walk will stop off in Hanover, where a charity party featuring DJ Athie Umgido from South Africa and Benjino will take place on Hüttenstraße from 7 pmt. The Water Walk is an open event that anyone is welcome to join without prior registration, for as long as they like.
As an NGO, our aim is to raise as much money as possible for clean drinking water through the WATER WALK. To ensure that as large a proportion of the donations as possible goes directly towards our water projects, we unfortunately do not have a marketing budget for paid partnerships. We are therefore very grateful for any form of voluntary support – naturally, only to the extent that feels right and appropriate for you.
