Leibniz was a polymath in the truest sense of the word, as he was involved in philosophy, mathematics, law, history and politics in his time. He is still known today for his calculating machine and the description of the binary system with zero and one, which is the basis of modern computer technology.

In 1499, a magnificent Renaissance-style town house was built. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz moved the Electoral Library here in 1698 as part of a historical change.
