Maritime flair, delicious food, live music and lots of fun at Germany's biggest lake festival!
The Maschsee Festival is a major attraction for people from near and far - the programme includes 19 days full of culinary and artistic discoveries. From typical local specialities to open-air concerts and sporting activities on the Maschsee - there's something for everyone. And the little sailors are also spoilt with great attractions for children.
Programme
The highlights at the Maschsee stage at the end of the north bank at the "Hellebardier" belongs to the bigFM presented the performance of the pop artist Myller on 1 August. One day later (2 August), the traditional cover band Munique a mixture of different musical genres with a lot of energy on stage.
On 8.8. for the first time RADIO HANDCART the Maschsee stage. Germany's most successful party station number 1, radio ffn, brings XTREME PARTY MUSIC with presenter Ruven Rintelmann and other top acts to the north bank.
On the last weekend Radio 21 the Maschseebühne and invites on 16.8. with Reckless Roses from Budapest will take you on a musical journey through time: the greatest rock anthems of Guns N' Roses will be played. Afterwards, the party band Jetlag rocked the stage with their energetic rock-pop mix.
The fact that the NP and HAZ presented the Maschseebühnen programme, for example "Mr President" Delroy Rennalsright at the start of the festival on 31 July and the gig by Juliano Rossi alias Oliver Perau, who took to the stage with his charismatic swing on the last Sunday (17 August).
For the first time, the Wine bar opposite near the Maschsee stage not only offers good wines, but also great-sounding DJ sets. On 30.7. DJ Morella electronic vibes to the shore.
On 9 August DJ Chris, known from the Wonderland Festival as well as Zaza and Sansibar, will be on the turntables.
At the Hamborger Veermaster wide Shanty and sailor choirs their maritime lament. Coastal fun from the water's edge includes Lui & Fiete to Hanover on three dates (1.8., 8.8., 15.8.). On 10 August, the "Leineshippers ut Hannover" her 20th anniversary at the Veermaster.
At the Lion Bastion bands from all over the world serve up musical samples for every taste: from Big Tasty with hearty alternative rock sounds from Hameln (5.8.) to Stefan Solothe sensitive string whisperer from the Harz (10.8.)
As usual, the best Irish atmosphere is on the south bank: in the Irish Folk various bands will liven up the stage with authentic folk performances on all 19 days, including the Keltics (30.7.), the Greenhorns (2.8.) and many more.
In the Music Park at the Maschsee spring will kick off on 30 July with the Hanoverians Los Tumpolos. With Hellfire (AC/DC Tribute), Over Gold (Dire Straits tribute), or the with 18-band (Westernhagen tribute), various renowned cover bands are guests at the spring. One of the highlights with a home advantage on the tranquil rock stage on the east bank is the performance of the SpVgg Linden Nord on 13.8. Dance of lights over the lake: enercity drone show to kick things off
With an impressive interplay of music, light and technology, the Maschseefest starts on the first weekend (2 August, 22:30; 3 August, 21:30) with a special accent: a choreographed drone show conquers the sky above the Maschsee. Presented by enercity around 300 luminous flying objects impressively tell the story of the company - on the occasion of its 200th anniversary.
Mobile observation tower
This year, a spectacular eye-catcher will rise into the sky on the forecourt of the Heinz von Heiden Arena: the 75 metre high MaschseeTowerpowered by Rossmann, offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the festival site, the lake and far beyond. The mobile viewing platform not only impresses with its height, but also with its innovative technology: in four glass, fully air-conditioned cabins - each with space for 20 people - visitors glide gently upwards along a steel tower. Refreshing drinks can be enjoyed during the ride.
Classics and crowd favourites
For the fifth time this year, the north bank of the QueerWednesday (6 August from 6 pm) for the Rainbow Mile. 3,000 Pride flags will be distributed, music will be provided by various DJs and a Suprise live act. The colourful party will be hosted by the popular drag queens Disko Jutta and Carrie Gold!
The Fish looking for a bike party attracts singles and flirtatious people to the Maschsee stage on the north bank on 5 August. On the last weekend of the festival (17 August), the charity racing ducks once again swarm across the Maschsee. At the now 14th Duck Race organised by the North German Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Donor Register (NKR) big Big Ducks and little squeaky ducks will be racing for a good cause under the motto "Giving life - against leukaemia". The traditional Torchlight swimming guests can look forward to on 9 August from 9.30 pm.
Programme for children
Big programme for little adventurers: The üstralala sets sail again. Imaginative stories, fun games and hands-on activities for children aged between four and ten await on the floating pirate ship. The Maschsee pirates set sail on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2, 3 and 4 pm. Tickets are online available.
Children's meadow: Fun, games and hands-on activities for the whole family
In 2025, the Maschsee Festival in Hanover will once again offer a varied programme for children and families on the large Children's meadow between Seufzerallee and Karl-Thiele-Weg (in front of the Heinz von Heiden Arena) with new activities for crafting, playing and marvelling every day. Creative activities, face painting, building block areas and an indoor play area with a cuddly toy pool invite you to join in. The popular children's Olympics with airtrack stations organised by the Turn-Klubb zu Hannover (TKH) provides sporting challenges, while various partners such as the Hemmingen library, the Johanniter or the upcycling exchange create additional experiences with picture book cinema, bobby cars, first aid workshops and craft activities.
Other special attractions include bouncy castles, giant soap bubbles, walking acts and vehicles to explore - including activities organised by enercity, the cleaners and the Hannover 96 football school. Frioli, the coffee wheel and the crunchy hut provide culinary refreshments.
International cuisine - from Oriental to Mexican, Asian, Scandinavian and Hanseatic - exclusive, exotic, home-style and "on the go" - takes guests on a culinary journey around the world. The international travel portal "Big 7 Travel" 2022 ranked the Maschseefest 9th among the best summer festivals for connoisseurs. This makes it the only festival in Germany to be among the ten best in the list.
