Christmas markets in Hanover

The most beautiful time of the year begins when Hanover's city centre is aglow with lights. From 24 November, numerous Christmas markets invite you to stroll, marvel and enjoy. Whether it's the traditional market in the Old Town, the Roncalli Christmas Village at the main railway station or the family market on the Lister Meile - the smell of punch, biscuits and regional specialities is everywhere. Festive music and handicrafts make for contemplative moments.

Roncalli Christmas Village

The Roncalli Christmas Village brings glamour to the station forecourt with nostalgic stalls, a Ferris wheel, VR carriage and festive light projections.

Christmas market in the old town

The Christmas market in the old town centre extends around the Marktkirche into the small side streets and is the largest of the Christmas markets in Hanover. It is characterised by tradition and is an integral part of the Christmas season.

There are regional specialities, handmade products and gift ideas, a historical carousel, delicious hot drinks and, of course, lots of stalls with sweet and savoury treats to try. There is also a Christmas programme of music, dance and talks every day on the stage in front of the Marktkirche. Everyone will definitely get into the Christmas spirit here!

Wishing well forest

Wishes come true here! The small forest in Hanover's historic city centre lets you enter an enchanted world between fir trees and the scent of Christmas. In addition to the cosy atmosphere, there is also fruity mulled wine and a wishing well that is guaranteed to make your Christmas wishes come true!

Historic village on the banks of the Leine

Whether archery, felting or axe throwing - everything in the historic village along the banks of the River Leine has a medieval theme. In addition to numerous hands-on activities, there are lovingly crafted handicrafts and gift ideas as well as food and drink from the Middle Ages.

Finnish Christmas Village

The Scandinavian Christmas spirit comes to the centre of Hanover at Ballhofplatz. Experience Scandinavian Christmas traditions with glögi, the traditional Finnish mulled wine, and flamed salmon. The authentic lap tents round off the experience in the Finnish Christmas village.
