Heinz von Heiden Arena: Multifunctional event venue in the heart of Hanover

Overview

The Heinz von Heiden Arena is one of the most important stadiums in northern Germany. With a capacity of around 49,000 covered seats, it is not only the home ground of the Hannover 96 football club, but also a versatile venue for national and international sporting events, concerts and major events.

History and architecture

Opened in 1954 as the Niedersachsenstadion, the arena has been modernised several times. Its current form was created in the course of preparations for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and has been known as the heinz von heiden arena since 2013. It is characterised by its compact design with excellent views from all seats and its complete roofing.

Utilisation and events

In addition to Hannover 96's Bundesliga and DFB Cup matches, the heinz von heiden arena has already hosted European Championship qualifiers, international matches and DFB Cup finals for women. It also serves as a venue for major concerts by international artists such as Coldplay, Depeche Mode and U2.

Technical equipment

The stadium has modern LED floodlights, high-speed internet access, business and VIP areas and its own press centre. The arena therefore meets the highest requirements for a modern event centre.

Transport links

The Heinz von Heiden Arena has excellent public transport connections. The tram lines 3, 7 and 9 stop at the nearby "Stadionbrücke" station. Car parking is available around the grounds, especially in the Schützenplatz area.
