Art in public space: Busstops
For more than a quarter of a century, Hanover has been taking waiting to a whole new level:
Since 10 April 1994, the "Busstops" have adorned the city with a unique collection of bus stops created by renowned designers such as Gehry, Sottsass and Morrison as part of an art project. In this way, the actually everyday bus shelters were transformed into true works of art.
Art in public space is the trademark of the art-filled city of Hanover. Over the years, more than 200 sculptures, sculptures and installations have been placed in the urban space. The famous Nanas, the sculpture mile and the extraordinary bus stops are among the icons of this collection.
The idea behind the bus stops is to turn the waiting time for passengers into a pleasant break in a special place.
